By late October, every holiday workshop on Nashoba Valley Winery's ticket page was sold out, from the November 14 sea glass tree through the December 13 mosaic class. So was the $200 Autumn Harvest Farm House Dinner. That was before the first frost had settled on Wattaquadock Hill, and weeks before most of these dates.
In September and October, Bolton's farm season runs on walk-ups. You show up at Bolton Spring Farm on Route 117, pick what's ripe, and pay at the stand. Once the apples are picked, the season changes how it works. It moves indoors and into small groups, and most of the time you need a seat booked ahead. The holiday calendar in town is mostly reservations, with a few walk-up spots in between.
Nashoba's workshop shelf, seat by seat
The winery at 100 Wattaquadock Hill Road charges no entrance fee and has free parking all year. Its workshops cost $60 to $65 a seat, and they're where November and December filled up first. Here's how the ticket listings stood in late October, all at 10 a.m.:
| Date | Workshop | Price | Status in late October |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sat., Nov. 14 | Lighted Sea Glass Tree | $65 | Sold out |
| Sun., Nov. 15 | Paint Your Own Light-Up Ceramic Lighthouse | $60 | Sold out |
| Sun., Nov. 22 | Holiday Candle Making | $65 | Sold out |
| Sun., Nov. 29 | Pressed Flower Pendant | $60 | Sold out |
| Sat., Dec. 5 | Wreath-Making | $65 | Sold out |
| Sun., Dec. 13 | Holiday Mosaic | $60 | Sold out |
That's six workshops spread over five weekends, and none had a seat left more than two weeks before the first one. The wreath class sold out with more than five weeks to go. The Autumn Harvest Farm House Dinner on Sunday, November 22 at 5:30 p.m. was also listed as sold out at $200 a seat. Openings can come back if someone cancels, so the winery's event ticket page is worth checking. For this season, though, Nashoba's workshop calendar was booked before November began.
November 14 is the crowded day
One Saturday in November has more going on than any other. On November 14, four maker events run at three places in town.
Bolton Spring Farm, 159 Main Street. The Holiday Artisan Fair & Market runs Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. both days. Admission is $5, kids 12 and under get in free, and parking is free. The farm's own homepage prints the dates as "November 15 & 14." The organizer's page gives them in order as Saturday and Sunday.
The organizers, Farm Fresh Events, list more than 80 artists, artisans and specialty food vendors from across New England, set up in tents through the orchard grounds. They also list seven gourmet food trucks, one of them for dogs, plus carolers, Santa shopping the market and posing for photos, a fire pit, and the farm's Country Store decorated for the holidays. Wine comes from Hardwick Vineyard & Winery. One item on the list is new this year: a Bolton Spring Farm beer garden serving New England craft beer, which the organizer also calls an Orchard Bar. The listing ties it to the fair weekend and gives no separate hours.
The farm is cash only, with an ATM on site. With 80-plus vendors, that matters more on fair weekend than on a normal visit to the farm stand.
Bolton Public Library, 738 Main Street. That same morning, the library has a copper bookmark workshop from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and a copper ornament workshop from noon to 1:30 p.m. Check the library's November calendar for sign-up details.
Nashoba Valley Winery. The Lighted Sea Glass Tree workshop runs at 10 a.m. and is already full.
With the winery's seats gone, the open combination is the library and the fair. Both library sessions end by 1:30, and the fair stays open until 3:30, so you can do a copper workshop in the morning or at midday and still have the afternoon in the orchard. On Sunday the fair opens again at 10:30 with no library workshop running against it.
What still works without a booking
The ticketed calendar is full, but the businesses behind it still have regular hours for walk-ins.
At Nashoba, the retail shop is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Sunday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. J's Restaurant serves lunch Wednesday through Saturday, dinner Thursday through Saturday, and Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dinner reservations are taken from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Live music is free with admission, and admission itself is free. Elizabeth Lorrey plays Saturday, November 7, from 1 to 4 p.m. The Knoll's outdoor seating is seasonal and reopened in late April this year, so in November and December the indoor rooms are where you'll be.
Bolton Orchards has the kind of holiday shopping you can do on your own schedule. The farm store makes gift baskets to order and keeps ready-to-gift baskets in the store. Its seasonal list includes Christmas trees and holiday floral bouquets. The orchard's Golden Russet Cider is a seasonal blend sold from mid-October to December while it lasts, so this season is your window for it. Newer items on the shelves include Bee Grateful honey-sweetened caramels, Shubh Kitchen egg-free cookies, and a frozen seafood line with fish, stuffed scallops and shrimp. Those last ones are more useful for a holiday open house than for a gift basket. Check with the store directly for this year's tree arrival date and hours.
Bolton Spring Farm keeps posted hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. Its 2026 picking schedule lists Fuji as the last variety, starting October 25. Call the farm at 978-779-2898 before you drive over expecting to pick.
December, as it stands
December has fewer listed dates so far, and a couple are still waiting on details:
- Dec. 3: Bolton Spring Farm has announced a Christmas Wreath Decorating Workshop & Private Shopping Experience. The farm lists the details as forthcoming, so time, price and registration haven't been posted yet. With Nashoba's December 5 wreath class already full, this is the other wreath event in town to watch for.
- Dec. 5: Nashoba Wreath-Making workshop, sold out.
- Wednesday, Dec. 9: Reception for artist Alvina Laudani at the library, 5 to 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Dec. 12: Adult silk-painting workshop at the library, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Dec. 13: Nashoba Holiday Mosaic workshop, 10 a.m., $60, sold out.
- Dec. 24: The library is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Nashoba's retail shop closes at 3 p.m. Nashoba is closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
On this list, the only entries without a sold-out tag are the two library dates and Bolton Spring Farm's December 3 event. The town tree lighting date will come from Bolton Parks & Recreation, which had setting that date on its September 3 agenda.
Bowers Spring, before and after the dam work
On October 20, the town's Conservation Department posted a notice for bids to restore the two earthen dams at Bowers Spring Conservation Area, off Flanagan Road. The work includes adding clean fill, fixing wildlife holes, stabilizing eroded areas, and building a defined walking tread along the top of the dams. Bidders can attend an optional site visit at the property on November 3 at 11 a.m., and bids are due November 17 at 2 p.m. The notice doesn't give a construction schedule, so for now the dam tops are still the same uneven footing walkers know. Once the work is done, they'll have a defined path, and no ticket is needed to walk it.
If your December plans include hosting family, a holiday open house, or getting your home ready to list in the spring, Sandra and the team at The Naroian Group have watched this calendar come around for more than 30 years in Bolton, and we're glad to talk through timing over coffee. Book a local market consult whenever it suits you, ideally after you've signed up for one of the library's December workshops.
